President Preckwinkle addresses the Business Leadership Council

President Preckwinkle attended the May 30, 2012 meeting of the Business Leadership Council to share the current state of  Cook County and her vision for economic growth.  Her remarks included her restructuring of economic development within Cook County to include planning and community development, job growth, capital planning, major construction and building and zoning.  She spoke about the creation of Cook County Works, streamlining the County procurement process,  and several cost-saving initiatives with the City.   A question and answer period followed the formal presentation for the members of the Business Leadership Council and their guests.

The Business Leadership Council is an organization comprised of 22 African-American corporate and entrepreneurial leaders in businesses that include: construction management, IT, legal, accounting, media/communications, banking, and financial services.   The Mission of the organization is to advocate to corporations, non-profits, and governmental bodies the importance of doing significant business with African-American firms on a consistent and on-going basis.  The development of young corporate professionals and business owners to become the next generation of corporate and political leaders is included in the scope of their Mission.
